Little and often
Why consistency beats intensity
Consistency, little and often, is the answer. One session a week is a great start. A steady hour plus little bits in between, repeated over months, is what changes posture, strength and the small daily movements.
Your nervous system learns movement the way you learned to drive. Small regular lessons, repeated until the thinking stops.
Month by month
What a weekly session actually builds
Month one is learning. You find out which bits of you have been quietly doing someone else's job for years. Month two or three, the homework starts earning its keep. Ten minutes on the living-room floor between sessions, the video on your phone, the cat supervising.
By month four or five something better happens. You stop thinking about it. You sit down and stand up without the hand on the desk. The stairs stop announcing themselves.
Once a week, kept
The honest minimum
Once a week, kept, will change you. Twice a month will not. Not because the sessions are wrong, but because the gap does the forgetting. Daily is not the answer either. Nobody needs to see me every day, and frankly neither of us would enjoy it.
If you want more than one session a week, the answer is homework, not more appointments.
The slot
The slot that sticks
Ideally, I book people at the same time each week, so your session lives at a fixed time. Tuesday 9am, Thursday 12pm, the same hour every week, booked like a dental appointment.
Remove the decision and the habit looks after itself.
The membership
The membership, plainly
That is the whole logic behind the monthly membership. One session every week of the month, the same slot each week, and a catch-up if life interferes, which it does. It is not a clever sales structure. It is just the shape that works, written down.
Starting
How we'd start
The way I work is that everyone starts with an intro package of three sessions. The first is assessment and teaching, not a workout. We look at how you move, where the years have parked themselves, and what your weeks can realistically hold. Then we build gradually, at your pace.
Questions
Two honest questions
Is once a week enough to see a difference?
Yes, if it is kept. One session a week with ten minutes of homework in between beats two sessions a month every time. The gap does the forgetting, not the effort.
How long before I notice a change?
Most people feel the first change in ordinary life before they see it anywhere else. Getting off the sofa without the sound effect. Weeks, not sessions. Soreness is fast. Strength is slower, and it stays.
